Transformational Threads' inaugural editions of hand-made thread paintings are inspired by Jennifer Kassing-Bradley's Waikiki Gold and Nerium Oleader #1 and Nuch Owen's Koi.
Each of these limited editions comprises 25 pieces, stretched and matted to facilitate framing and wrapped for protection. Overall dimensions of each thread painting are approximately 16 inches by 20 inches, with the image itself measuring approximately 12 inches by 15 inches. The entire ground is hand-embroidered on white cotton (a notable feature of Vietnamese embroidery). Vibrant colors from hand-dyed threads and exceptionally fine shadings characterize the delicate yet built-up and layered stitches. Because each piece in the edition is hand-made, some variations occur from piece to piece, making each artwork unique.
The anniversary edition is inspired by the image of Maryland painter Judith Olivia HeartSong's acrylic painting Peacock (Crimson). The edition comprises 25 pieces.
This extraordinary custom needlework, which beautifully and faithfully captures the bold red coloring and fine detail of the original acrylic painting, is sized 20 inches by 20 inches. As hand-stretched and matted, the finished, ready-to-frame piece is approximately 24 inches by 24 inches.
Each piece is unique, consisting of hundreds upon hundreds of hand-dyed threads covering the entire ground. Some variations occur from piece to piece.
