Transformational Threads licenses images of original fine art for rendering into custom hand-embroidery by highly skilled Vietnamese artisans. The company is unique in its approach to licensing, offering limited-edition works of fiber art that are inspired by art and made available for purchase at affordable prices. 

 

In exchange for the right to use licensed images, Transformational Threads pays artists a negotiated percentage of net sales. In addition to promoting the work of emerging and mid-career American artists through licensing, the company supports the livelihood of artisans in Vietnam by contracting for their finely honed skills, which are applied to an exquisite and centuries-old hand-craft. 

 

Based in Arlington, Virginia, Transformational Threads is a sole proprietorship, owned and operated by Maureen E. Doallas, who founded the company in 2008.
